Peace May it prevail in this world. May our words be gentle, our actions loving, our intentions honorable. For a peaceful world can only be created by those who practice peace, each moment of each day, in their hearts and in their homes. ~ Caroline Joy Adams |

"It is believed by most that time passes; in actual fact, it stays where it is. This idea of passing may be called time, but it is an incorrect idea, for since one sees it only as passing, one can not understand that it stays just where it is.

For those who believe that people who have trouble spelling are in some way "less intelligent" than themselves, after reading this, maybe you would understand that the mis-spellers just didn't bother with such nonsense. Read the following paragraph:
" Olny srmat poelpe can raed tihs. I cdnuolt blveiee taht I cluod aulaclty uesdnatnrd waht I was rdanieg. The phaonmneal pweor of the hmuan mnid, aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoatnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be in the rghit pclae. The rset can be a taotl mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit a porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe. Amzanig huh?"

Monthly Thoughts and Message I have a friend who has no children. She had a series of miscarriages and eventually had a full hysterectomy due to severe Endometriosis. Through the years, she has taken in many needy people and helped them get their feet on the ground. Her latest roommate was remarking last week that living with her is like going to “spiritual Boot Camp”. Man did we laugh! BUT, he does have a point. While she is helping someone, she has a zero tolerance for lies, drugs or bull-sh*t. She is direct and honest with each individual who stays with her right from the get-go. Yes, to live there has it’s drawbacks… but the benefits far out weigh the negatives. She gives them foundation and communication, honesty and guidance. This latest guy will be moving out on his own in another month and he is much better off than when he came to her. He has been battling a cocaine addiction for years, mismanaged his money and was about to lose his job when she offered to help him. He had been hopelessly heartbroken over the love of his life, that he says, “got away” even though it was he who pushed him away. In the past 6 months he has stayed clean, saved up some money to pay off bills and get set up in his own place and stabilized his job. He has also come around to be able to accept and that he is ready to find another mate. He has healed enough that he does not have the memory of his past love on a pedestal anymore. Yup… he has survived spiritual boot camp and is graduating with a gold star. Most folks might shy away from people like my friend's latest “project”. My friend gives her home and her trust to these needy folks under the agreement that, as long as you don’t mistreat me, I will help you. So far she has had about 50/50 results. She helped a woman with a brain tumor recently, who then robbed her. It was quite a learning experience, all the way around. This was an extreme case and by far the worst. Her need and ability to give love and some-what parental guidance stems from her desire to have been a parent, she admits. She has so much love to give and has attracted to her child-like people who she can help. I admire this quality and know that it is unique. I, for one, have a family, a business, a very hectic life and would not be able to give the time necessary to help in her way. My thoughts, prayers and warm wishes go out to those who give of themselves with no regard for reward or acknowledgement. It is truly a loving act when there are no hidden motives behind compassion. Sure, she has a “cause” for a time with each of these people. It gives her a platform to help support and guide in an almost parent/teacher like fashion. For the people she has helped over the years, I believe the Truth and the unconditional love that they have learned by example and through receiving such acceptance and trust will hopefully benefit them in the future. Every day and each moment is a time for giving… for thankfulness and celebration. I have learned by my friend’s example. I guess we can all run a version of spiritual boot camp with people in our lives to some degree. We can give someone the benefit of the doubt or that compliment that they so often do not hear. We can try to be just a bit more patient and recognize that each one of us comes from a different perspective. I learn each day by watching, hearing about and witnessing random acts of kindness. It is really true that giving is so much better than receiving. Look around your home, job and community for what others are doing and giving of themselves. Learn from their example and give it a try yourself. It’s amazing how good it feels to give without needing anything in return. (like holding the door for someone who does not say thank you.) We can be bothered that they behaved rudely and not open the door for the next person… OR we can smile and open the door for each person just the same because we CHOOSE to do it. We can CHOOSE not to expect anything in return… even a thank you. Sounds simple, huh? It is. ~ Lady Takva Posted July 14, 2010

Read this sentence:
FINISHED FILES ARE THE RESULT OF YEARS
OF SCIENTIFIC STUDY COMBINED WITH THE
EXPERIENCE OF YEARS.
Now count the F's is that sentence.
Count them ONLY ONCE.
ANSWER:
There are six F's in the sentence.
One of average intelligence finds 3 of them.
If you spotted 4, you're above average. If you discovered 5, you can turn your nose at most anybody.
If you caught 6, you are a genius.
There is no catch. Most people forget the OFs.
The human brain tends to see them as Vs instead of F's. |
